Egypt celebrates these days the anniversary of the journey of the Holy Family, which fled from King Herod 's womb from Palestine to Egypt' s land of Canaan, and stayed there for nearly three years, hosted by its people, which he welcomed with joy and welcome.

The journey of the Holy Family began from Bethlehem to Gaza until the Zaraniq Reserve west of El Arish. Then Egypt entered through the Sinai Desert from the north side of the Ferma area between the cities of Arish and Port Said and then went to the city of Tel Basta near the city of Zagazig in Sharkia Governorate. Full of idols, the Holy Family went to the south until it reached Mostorod, and from Mostorod moved north to Belbeis.

The Holy Family crossed the Nile to Samannoud and there was a welcome reception. The visitor to this city, wishing to trace the Holy Family, could see a large "Majora" made of granite that the Virgin used to make the dough while there was also a well Water blessed by Jesus himself.

The next stop of the Holy Family trip is the city of Samannoud, which was then moved north to the area of Burlus, "Kafr El-Sheikh province," and then to Wadi Al-Natroun, and from there went to the city of Cairo and crossed the River Nile to the eastern direction towards the Matria and Ain Shams. At that time a large number of Jews had their temple called "the temple of Onias".

In the rainforest, Christ set forth in his miracles a fountain of water from which he drank and blessed. It is said that the Virgin Mary washed the clothes of Christ and poured the water on the ground and we planted in that spot a sweet aromatic plant known as "balsam plants".

From the area of Matria and Ain Shams, the Holy Family headed to the olive, and then to ancient Egypt, which is one of the most important areas and stations where the Holy Family was on its journey to the land of Egypt and there are many churches and monasteries. She then went to the Maadi area and took off on a Nile-bound boat bound for Upper Egypt, heading for Bahnasa.

The Holy Family moved in the course of its journey in Egypt after that from Bhansa to the south to Samalut and from there crossed the Nile to the east where the monastery of the Virgin Mary is now located in Jabal El-Tayr, settled there by the cave in the ancient church, and then crossed the Nile from the eastern side to the western side and headed towards the Ashmounites .

Then the holy family headed towards Mir, then to Mount Qusakam where there is now the monastery of Muharraq and its area, which is one of the most important stations that settled until the place was called (Bethlehem II), and stayed there for about 190 days. "Go and take the boy and his mother and go to the land of Palestine, because those who were asking for the same boy have died."

The Holy Family, on the way back, took a different route, deviating to the south to Mount Assiut, known as Jebel Drenke, and blessed by the Holy Family. They then arrived in ancient Egypt, then the rainforest, then the Mahamah, and from there to Sinai and then to Palestine. The journey of suffering lasted more than three years. They traveled more than 2,000 kilometers, and their only means of transport was a weak ride, sometimes accompanied by ships, in the Nile, so they cut most of the way on foot. Walking, walking, summer heat, cold winter, hunger, thirst and chasing everywhere were a difficult journey.download.jpg
