Behind The Quote: Are you choosing life, or life is choosing you?

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Don't you like motivational quotes? Everyone does, right? So here on Steemit, I am creating a new #behindthequote category.

I am not sure if you will like it. My plan is to publish one quote every day and share my thoughts. For years, I have been reading and creating quotes. There is something behind these quotes that changes us, you know?

So I thought why not add a twist to it? To start with:

Question: Who is holding the keys to your life?

Perhaps even you have wondered this, right? Maybe you have also wondered why are we here? And now that we are here, what is our purpose?

The truth is? Not many have the opportunity to question life.

People often get stuck. They go clueless. It's a phase of life!

As you think about it, the only problem?

Some people get stuck way too long. Some do not bounce back up, right?

You probably know a friend who hasn't changed in so many years. Or someone who has been complaining all the time. They want to find a reason to blame someone else.

They complain. Yet fail to see that they are the only ones holding they keys to their life. They would rather be lazy. They would rather procrastinate.

What happens to those who procrastinate? You will agree that their choices are severely reduced. Which is why I like this quote a lot:

"A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance." - Hunter S. Thompson

How true is this? Anytime we procrastinate, we never make the choices. The world will make the choice for us. I have personally known friends who were dead-lazy, and they live by these four words: "We will see later..."

And later means? NEVER!

So my Steemit friends, never procrastinate. If you wanted to write something? Do it. Now. If you wanted to finish that project? Do it. Not next week. Or next year. Do it. Now.

Perhaps you can procrastinate after death.

But we live this life only once, right? So do it. Now. And do it often. :)

Cheers,
Sid

To put it another way:
"If you don't want weeds growing in your garden, plant your own flowers."

Fantastic quote!

"If you don't want weeds growing in your garden, plant your own flowers."

This will be remembered for a long time! :)

Thank you for sharing!

So Happy you like it.

Actually, loved it! :)

Told to a friend of mine too.

Great line!

I really enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing Sid!

Really appreciate you reading this deepblue!

Thank you!

Your welcome!

I wish I could write as creative as you. :) Great piece.

Cool post! It's really true, if you do not decide, someone/something else will and you have to live with it... Regarding your question bout doing something that changed life, yes!: I changed country, 3 times. Putting yourself in a place where you are 'out of place' is life (mind) changing! And I found that changing your diet works magic too.. Looking forward to more quotes!

Interesting topic. This one was badly needed in my life. I always procrastinate. I had joined Steemit in Jan and wrote my first post in June. How bad is that. This quote will always motivate me to choose life. Cheers from a fellow Indian Steemer ;)
