The cultural festival of contemporary anthropology in my city

in life •  8 years ago

This year, in my city (Pistoia, Italy), there is the  eighth edition of "Dialoghi sull'uomo" (Dialogues on Man), a cultural festival of contemporary anthropology.

The theme for this edition is: Culture makes us humans. Movements, diversity, exchanges.

The program of the festival (from May 25 to May 28) is really interesting, because offers a new way of performing cultural analyses  with audiences conferences, shows and unusual encounters.

As you can see in the program, we had very interesting characters (national and international), anthropoligists, writers, actors, etc., for example David Grossman,  John Eskenazi  and Tony Servillo too!

In the "manifesto" of this year, we can read:

Interpreting “culture” as a plural concept is not only the main theoretical acquisition of cultural anthropology, but also one of the great cognitive revolutions of the 20th century. In fact, the acceptance of an anthropological notion of culture has paved the way for the deconstruction of the notion of “race”, enabling us to consider the whole of humanity from a single perspective. Cultures are always work in progress, constantly evolving, and cultural exchanges are the rule, not the exception. The Festival believes that culture makes us better human beings.

Just wonderful!

See ya later!

You're welcome, dear @jlufer ^_^

Thank you for letting us know of this event! I spent a great deal of time studying various anthropological disciplines during grad school and its great to get into it a bit again.

Anthropological disciplines are really interesting. :)

I hope to attend one someday. Great stuff.

Thanks for stopping by, @richguy ^_^
