When I was young I studied classical dance for about 6 years and, even if my life made different choise for me, dance is always in my soul. Everytime I hear music I can't stay still and everytime I can dance, I dance! The last time was this summer, when me and hubby were to an event in one of the square of my city. Old ballades, ancient music from different coutries and a group of people who teach to everyone the ancient dance moves. It was really funny ^_^
In this post I want to talk about a dance that I saw some years ago in a theater in Florence: the Malambo!
Malambo is a Argentine step dance. I'm Italian, so maybe you think it's strange that I want to talk about a dance from another country, but when I saw the first time this dance it was a great emotion for me. I just watched some malambo dancers on the tv and I thought it's time to share my emotions about it^_^
I know there are some Argentine steemians and I hope they will appreciate this "homage" to their dance!
I read some informations online about Malambo in Spanish (I can read in Spanish because it's similar to Italian) and so I hope to find the right words in English ^_^
Malambo originated around the 1600 in the region of Pampa. It was a dance just for men, to show their ability with boleadoras and the dance have a great footwork. Some series of steps (zapateo) separated by a stroke of foot (repique) that give a fast sound to end the previous zapateo and to introduce the next!
The music of malambo is played with drums and a guitar, but also the step of the dancers make sounds, so it's all very emotional and if you see it you can feel all in your soul! It's fantastic, a pure emotion!

I think dance is an universal language that speak to every part of us: mind, heart, soul! It can make us feel more different sensations, but always great sensations! Even if I'm an "old girl", dance make me feel always "unchained" ;)

Silvia, you absolutely nailed it! Recently, malambo got some attention here again and in USA too because of Malevo, a group of malambo dancers participated on America's Got talent and they made a great show.

I don't remeber the name of ballet company that I watched many years ago (more than 10 years ago) in the theater, but I have to say that watch this dance in real is more exciting than in video (as always ^^). Thanks for your nice comment, Siucatti ^^

We can express our feelings without speaking by dance. Dance is a thing that mention our soul. I didn't hear about malambo form but I know about classical dance. You learnt classical for about 6 years. I can say that you can express everykind of emotions and feelings. Well I like belly form because that's something unique much interesting form. I also wanted to be a b-boy dancer. I liked parkour most. Thanks for sharing. My old memories became fresh.
