The HeLa Cell ("The Immortal Cell")...A Mutation?...or Something More?

The HeLa Cell

HeLa-flourescent.jpgI first read of Loretta Lacks a few years ago and wondered I hadn't heard of her before then. Its an impressive story....and I suspect a cover up. Basically, from my understanding, she was source of the 1951 discovery of the HeLa cell (so-called "immortal cell"). From these cells they were able to produce a plethora of the same. They would regenerate when divided, apparently. These cells repaired DNA damage and were used in polio vaccines, if i remember correctly......Until they were found to be "contaminated" and all the cells were banned and destroyed. I suspect big pharma initiated this. How could these cells (shared globally) all suddenly go bad?

Apparently, (Henrietta) Loretta Lacks went to Baltimore's John Hopkins Hospital with stomach pains. The Doctor (George Otto Gey) found she had cancer...and they discovered these "immortal cells" by pure chance, an alleged "mutation" of a cancer cell.
I call bullshit. I think this may be bloodline related.

The story went on to claim that on Dr. Gey's death bed, he had begged his colleagues to take a snippet of his own liver and repeat the same process he had carried out with Lacks'. They declined.

Could the Hela cell be a genetic trait?...A unique bloodline, perhaps? Did Dr. Gey and Loretta have shared ancestry of some kind? The Biography went on to explain her great grandfather was a slave owner. i should look deeper into this. Its interesting to note that her family nick named her "Henny". George Geys sister was named Henrietta. I thought that Interesting. Perhaps both were Rh Negatives?.....Another subject for another time....But, "They" obviously aren't telling us something.

Apparently, no one knows where Lacks is buried...yet, included a claim that she was Rh+ blood type...Though I have my doubts. Perhaps Dr. Gey knew about the Delta-32 CCR5 "mutation"? I'd Love to get a hold of his Diaries. There's something shady about the official tale. I could be completely off....but, its certainly a good conversation.
