Hello Steemians!
Have you ever felt bad or disappointed because someone you went out of your way to help didn't seem to notice or care to show some appreciation for your sacrifice?
How often do you feel grateful for something someone did or said to you?
It might not seem like much, but a simple display of gratitude goes a long way to show decency on your part. Plus, it could pave the way for several other opportunities which may not be evident at the time.
Think of that person who overlooks your good deed toward them because of their pride or ignorance. How much would you be willing to help such a person on another occasion? Very likely, you would hesitate.
Everyone likes to be appreciated enough when they do something nice for others. But sadly, gratitude is not very common today.
Some persons may neglect the importance of showing gratitude especially when they feel they are entitled to such favours. For instance, a child may not think of it as a big deal when a parent takes them shopping or brings home groceries for dinner. But a smile of reassurance or a "thank you" statement from the heart will be appreciated by the recipient and such a person will be more willing to continue showing favours to you.
In a world where people have developed an entitlement mentality, it would only make us stand out as different from the rest if we are sensitive and decent enough to notice the good deeds people, even strangers, do for us and sincerely appreciate it.
So, hopefully, the next time someone does something nice for you, directly or indirectly, you'd take care to show some gratitude!
