Can We Live An Immortal 'Life'?

Hello great people! In one of my recent posts, I talked about the inevitability of death. In that post, I clearly explained the debt we all owe nature and a price we must pay.

Beyond the idea of death some people actually crave for immortality. I have watched films, mostly Chinese films about drinking an elixir. These films actually got me wondering whether there can be such a thing that we could drink and live forever.

No doubt, the Chinese people love vegetables and they live very long. This actually contributed to my initial belief on the idea of an elixir! Do yo think there is anything like that?

Well, beyond the idea of a drink we can take to live long or never die, there are many ways we can be immortalized. It is down to how we actually choose to live now. There is this idea here in Africa that those who do good die quickly while those who do bad live longer.

Now, I don’t know why it is so and it is possible to deny such belief as mere superstition. But the way things are in this part of the world, it appears they are ‘right’. There are many ‘good’ people that have others at heart and are ready to help others but these people seem to die when you need them most and those ‘wicked’ ones stay for a very long time.

Perhaps, we can say they live longer because God gives them a second, third or fourth chance to correct their wrongs. In the process of these unending chances, these people do more bad than good and many people suffer more.

What am I trying to say? My point is, this idea tend to suggest that by doing bad or evil, you have the chance of living longer and by doing good, you get killed on time or die sooner. This, perhaps, also explains why many good people get killed, imprisoned, or died ‘untimely’ death.

Despite the above, a more prosperous and humane life should be embraced ahead of a bad one. We can actually live an immortal ‘life’. As human beings, we find it noble to remember our heroes and heroines. We see it as our job to make sure the upcoming generations hear about their noble acts and are inspired by what they did for all of us.

So you can live an immortal life in the heart of many generations. Your statue needs not be mounted on the street or any park before you are immortalized. The moment you do good things, love humanity, uphold good moral standards, people will always remember you. That way, you live very long than your physical existence.

Life is truly short, what you do now while you are alive will be remembered for a very long time whether good or bad. Why not do the good and be used as a good example to younger generations. Be immortalized for doing good!

One of the fascinating things about our past is we vary rarely immortalize moral people. The individuals who have the largest effect are the ones remembered. Conquerors, villains, thieves... I like your point as to have an affect on peoples hearts. Positively influence the people close to you.

It's really good to have you on my blog. Thanks for your contribution! 😀👍

Yes. We are engraved in the hearts of others. There we have our immortality after death.

I think you just inspired a story. It's not clear yet to me but I hope to figure out hopefully write out something very soon.

In my own point. I'm not even looking at humans living immortal lives philosophically. I'm more concerned about achieving biological immortality. I think it's possible in the near future.

Hi @smyle
Very insightful as usual, on your question about elixir, I think its only a mirage, if there is actually such thing in existence China could have mass produced it such that everyone could afford it.
@dubem-eu

Lols! I was just wondering brother! I love films you know 😀

Thanks for your time! 👍

Come what may, death is real, and every one must see it's visit. What Elixir in China does is only to keep you for a longer, but not forever lol. The answer is that death most come one good day, believe or not. Nice post my friend.

Thank you! 👍

Nice post bro

Stop writing 'nice post' on people's blogs. All your comments are 'nice post'. Watch it before someone reports you to che*tah as a spammer. Please do not write nice post on my blog. Thanks.

Your post really touch me, especially the part that says; those do good die quickly while those who do bad live longer... That's irony of life.

live much longer will be possible at some point but immortality is a big time sell and many fall for it... the more knowledge the bigger the threats. Like today atomic bombs could destroy the entire planet. What cavemen could not do... makes me smile, people have no idea of the threats once AI will have become strong enough...

millions plugged into the hive mind could easily be injected with a virus.. This gave an idea for my blog tomorrow :)

We can not discourage people from acquiring more knowledge on the premise that it is dangerous just because some people are misusing it. Knowledge is what we must seek. The evil that comes from it should be blamed on the person involved not the 'knowledge' itself because it could be use for good or bad.

It is good to see that this triggered something in you.

Thanks for your time friend! 👍

I spend my time saying to people that knowledge is neutral and the level of awareness defines how it is used, for good or evil.. I am definitely pro knowledge but long as humanity has not resolved the "power and greed" problem (lack of awareness), knowledge will enable our extinction. And if we look at the world today, the clock is ticking... a society that sells for billions worth of weapon and its citizens giving their consent away to be killed and finance the making if these weapons is NOT evolved. It is technological tribalism

additionally there is a spiritual battle for humanity' soul that is very ancient so if this is not resolved, AI will bring human farming up to higher level and create a cyber prison. What is the GRAND plan. And immortality will just be available for the top 1%. Meanwhile it is sold to the masses to obtain their consent to perpetuate the feudal structure.

conclusion: as long as people allow their govs to economically enslave them, or by military might, the quest for immortality is a deception

Voluntary Death In A Futuristic Society That Has Overcome Technological Darwinism

I got the point.

For me, the ability to live indefintely has been put into us but my opinion is that for now, we cant live an immortal life. Later when all things and human has attained to perfection, they we can become immortal

Yes we can actually be immortalized by the kind of lives we choose to live now for the sake of posterity. I have heard people say something like 'oh you mean that man was your father? ' and voila! That favour is done. Simply because that father chose to impact a life in his own little way. A good man /woman can never be forgotten by posterity. So choose to live and live in immortality but physical immortality? That is impossi-cat . Thank you for this wonderful post .
