So about a year ago, my husband brought me a smokeless ashtray.
Yes, I smoke. Yes, I smoke in my house but that's a story for another day.
Now back to the smokeless ashtray. It works very well surprisingly. How well is very well? Well, I smoke a lot annnnnd let's just leave that there too.....
The first day I used it my husband came home and said he could not smell any smoke in the house! It works so well that he will not complain about buying the D size batteries that it runs off of which if you knew my husband THAT alone would tell you how great it works!
The good thing about it is it does work that well, the bad thing about it is when you put in new batteries it is SO loud it drives me batty! Now as the batteries get weaker and weaker the sound gets softer and softer which is why I have not thrown it out the window and told him a raccoon came in the house and took it.
Tonight I had to replace the batteries. I went to the kitchen to get them and saw I had to open a new pack. Easy-peasy right?
20 minutes later I had the pack open and 2 batteries FREE from the confines of the plastic jail they have been living in. My fingers were sore from trying to find a place to cut the plastic and once I found a place to start cutting then comes the actual cutting.
So as I was walking around the house mumbling to myself about how much money is wasted on packaging batteries I started to think of other people in other places and...........
Let's say you're a secret Santa for some child in a poor place. You get them this really cool toy and it needs batteries so you, as a wonderful giving person, send along the batteries with it and pat yourself on the back and never give it another thought.
Now it's Christmas morning and this child opens their wonderful gift you sent and they hand the batteries to their parents to open..............
Two things can happen here. One, the batteries take 20 minutes to open and the child has to wait patiently on Christmas morning to play with their new present or two, and this is the bad one, the parents cannot open the package at all and all of a sudden the wonderful present you sent with the best intentions turns into a nightmare for this family.
Which then got me to thinking if I ever send someone batteries I will send along a way to open those batteries too!
Yes, these are really the things I think about going through my day.
Moral: Things are never as easy as you might think they should be!
Happy Day to you!

Very true! Those plastics are soooo hard to open. Luckily I carry a machete.
1 month no cigarettes for me!

I love this!!! I've gotten to the point if the package says easy open, I grab the scissors. I don't even try. Those plastic jails are the worst. They put it on gel insoles, I always have the hardest time, even with scissors!
