Ostrich day OWC - Day 2

in life •  7 years ago

As we approach the winter nights, the last bit of growth is being mustered from our grass. The few seedlings I had gotten started a couple weeks back have started to come up and enjoy the cool mornings of a Georgia October. The chick is now growing into a beautiful black (we hope hen) and all the bunnies are doing well, though a few are late for freezer camp. Our hens have lost a couple feathers here and there but no serious molting, yet, of course, I'm down to one egg a day which we did not experience last year when the hens were literally spring chickens.

I have this week off of school and even though I'm still going to address some research projects, I have more spare time to devote to home chores. I took measurements for the raised beds and am going to attempt to set up my irrigation system Jon got me for mother's day. Whoops.

The shooting in Vegas was the first thing I heard about this morning when I "plugged in" and I immediately wanted to turn the electronics off. Well, that's sort of what happened, I listened to dance music and reorganized my desk and put away a lot of laundry. As a person who is sensitive to energy, today felt awful. It still does, but I'm constantly trying to block it out.

Things like that are definitely one of the reasons I find a great value in learning how to be more self-sufficient, we juat have no way of knowing what the future holds.

Til tomorrow,
Jess
