Flagging Unmarked NSFW Thumbnails Necessary For Greater GoodsteemCreated with Sketch.

Doing the right thing isn’t always easy. In fact, sometimes it’s downright difficult. Not the doing right part; but, having to cost the potential revenue of ‘one,’ in exchange for the safeguarding of one’s eye-gate for the majority.

As noted in the title, today I had to flag a Steemian’s post for its inappropriate thumbnail. I would gladly remove the flag if the person would politely put the NSFW warning in place.

I decided I would have to eventually begin the rarest of occasions when something was so over-the-top that it would not give me peace to look away and not do something to protect the eyes, and minds, particularly of those who are underage, and possibly in the viewing of an unattended laptop.

Steemit is not the problem, but people who want to use porno thumbnails as clickbait are. And, not only are they a problem, they are a nuisance to those in the community, which I’d like to believe is the majority, who could live without seeing sexual exploitation as they are viewing new posts.

I’ve begun to notice that ignoring the explicit thumbnails seems to be yielding an increase in the number of them. So, if you don’t want to see the minus 1 in your vote tab, perhaps you might want to respect the community by labeling it what it is: NOT SAFE FOR ‘WORK’.

I look forward to the day when Steemit comes up with a simple EXPLICIT CONTENT stamp to remove all doubt for those who want to believe it’s only limited to the work place. NSFW includes NOT G, PG.

Thanks.

I’m sure the person who learns I flagged them will be glad to know that it’s not personal; just necessary.

Peace.

I would say you could go all the way to "R" without the NSFW tag, but I definitely think that people should make use of it for obviously pornographic material.

It's a distraction. I've noticed that there are children as young as 12 trying to start their niche on Steemit. I'm sure their parents are guiding them; but, maybe not. Either way, NSFW is a simple solution. Today's R, used to be yesterday's X; and, sadly PG is the 'new' R, if truth was told.

I believe in giving people free choice, just as Jesus did. He never forced people to follow Him. He only showed them the Way (John 14:6): and, told them who wouldn't be in heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9).

For this reason, I try to be very mindful of what I let in my ear and eye gates (Psalm 101:3, Proverbs 2:2-12).

Peace.
