3 Things My 32 Years Old CEO taught me

in life •  7 years ago

Before I went to sleep, I reflected on the conversation I had with my young boss earlier that day.

With a thumping heart and shaking hands, I took a deep breath and pushed down the sparkling golden door knob, and entered into the legendary forbidden room.

My boss has that daunting aura that no one dares to come close to him unless he tells you so.
His two bodyguards stand close to him daily makes me feel like there is an impenetrable bubble around him, and that explains why it’s so nerve wrecking for me to be able to enter this intimidating bubble at last.

When I asked what is his key to success?
3 things he taught me.

1. Always take time to reflect, daily.

He said, “I make stupid mistakes every day, and sometimes I make good decisions, so take time to reflect your day before you go to sleep and take time to plan your day every morning, that’s one of the routines I’ve kept until today which is vital to make me who I am today.”

2. Learn fast, fail fast, but pick yourself up faster.

If you tend to be the kind that is slow and steady, you’ll learn slow, you’ll fail slow, but you’ll recover even slower.

In this fast pacing society, there’s no room for idleness and no room for perfectionist.
If you have to wait for things to be perfect only then you start learning, well that’s not gonna happen because nothing will be perfect.

However if you can learn things fast, you may fail fast, but eventually you allow yourself to pick up from failure even faster.

3. Learn to talk to anyone, and everyone.

Don’t look down on anyone.
Even though he or she may be a cleaner, or a security guard, you may learn a thing or two from that person unknowingly.

Take time to talk to anyone.
A cleaner probably knows best how to cut cost for cleaning service, because they knows best which area need more cleaning and which area don’t.

Still pondering on the things he said to me, and hopefully with these 3 nuggets of wisdom, I will add value and become a blessing to others.
