Anderson and I get our first completed peak!

During out last activation on Mt. Ellen we made a couple Summit to Summit contacts from Mt. Washington. Being that we had chased the “Big Rock” we decided we would make the 3.5 hour drive to activate it last Sunday as well. Why not have our first completed peak be the tallest in New England!

It was a little foggy when we first arrived!

There were plenty of people on hand to take our picture at the summit and we had to get a pic of the medallion as well.

It started to clear up for us as we set up. I acquired a Yeasu FT-100D from a fellow SOTA hound K1ZK and this was our first trip with it. What a great rig! We made 11 contacts; 10 on 2m FM and 1 on 6m. This was our first 6m SOTA contact! We tried 2m SSB and UHF as well, but couldn’t find anyone.
