My Little Pumpkin

I love all of my kiddos. They each bring something unique and wonderful to my life. They bring me joy and blessing. At times my heart hurts as I watch pain in their faces, as I watch them struggle with the difficulties they face.

I love all of my kiddos, but Little Pumpkin holds a special place in my heart, and I hold a special place in hers. I don't love her more, but if you ask all of our kiddos who is daddy's girl, Little Pumpkin answers "ME!" with a big smile on her face.

Little Pumpkin is our middle children (#3). She has a sensitive spirit that is kind and playful. Little Pumpkin was our only child who said daddy before she said mommy. Our rounds faces look alike. We stomp across the floor (totally ungraceful) in the same way. She is a miniature girl version of me

Tonight she hurts. Her body causes her pain because her skin is as sensitive as her heart. I hurt because I cannot protect her from all the evil things in life. I cannot remove her pain like the Great Physician can.

But I can hold her, kiss her forehead, and pray for peace that flows over her little life. I tell her that she is loved, she is valued, and despite the pain, there is hope.

And as she falls asleep I hope for a new, better day. A day with less pain and more smiles. Another day so that I can be her Big Pumpkin and she can be my Little Pumpkin.

I'd say you're doing one hell of a job as dad.
I can totally relate to this post. I have five kids, but my middle and I have a slightly different relationship. She is our child most deeply acquainted with sadness and, when I am emotionally healthy, that brings me back to my childhood right away.

Thanks for your kind and encouraging words. It is amazing how our children can bring us back to things that we experienced in our childhood.

Keep pressing forward and keep Steeming!

Thanks for the comment. I am sorry if I misled you. The photo I used was not mine, but I aways include an image source section at the bottom of my posts.

This is flowing beauty, and worthy of a one-liner.
