As the time passed by, the wrist watches became more popular and were widely used across the world.

It took more almost 50 years before the first digital watch was introduced in 1972.
People used to wear only analog watches until then.
Wrist watches became a necessity and you could see this wearable technology on almost every wrist during the late 90's and early 2000's.

The reason people were less interested in wrist watches was because of the introduction of smart phones (phones in particular).
Most of the people no longer needed a watch which was capable of only showing time because mobiles phones were capable of showing time also.
