Jesus Model Prayer (Part 1)
Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV The Model Prayer
"Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
Poverty is an isolation and a sign that there is a disconnect between the person and the community. If we are isolated, then it guarantees failure. Those that are alone and proud has a short-term memory, low self-esteem, and low self-concept. Therefore, we are only as good as the community that produces us.
Every success is a corporate effort. We pray as a whole for our community, our city and our country. In the kingdom it is a commonwealth. Everyone is wealthy, healthy and prosperous. The community protects us from personal distress, provides as an incubator of human security, it gives us self-sustaining life supply, it produces life, and allows us to have true success. In addition, the community gives us self worth (value), gives our personal gift's value, gives us a sense of importance, and gives us a place to give to, receive, and gives us life. In a community nobody is left out. (Dr. Myles Munroe)
This brings me to the Jesus Model Prayer. (Luke 11:1-4) The Holy Spirit has given us the spirit of sonship, whereby we can call our Father (Abba) in heaven to help us in our time of need. (Rom. 8:15, Heb. 4:16) Our Fathers will is that not one should perish, but all be saved through Jesus Christ. (Matt. 18:14, John 3:16) The Lord's Prayer is a blueprint for His people to follow. Effective prayer is to influence heaven and earth. Prayer is not a religious activity. It's mankind's earthly license for heavenly influence. Prayer or petition is a legal act in the kingdom government. Prayer gives God permission to interfere with the earths affair. So, God gave us a way (prayer) to access the kingdom of God. Prayer is giving God access and the authority to perform His words on earth from heaven. Prayer is a reminder towards God of what He wanted us to do on earth. (Dr. Myles Munroe)
Most people pray selfish prayers. However, when we pray as a whole, not just for us, the Lord will answer our prayer. He wants to bless us, but He also wants to bless the people around us, family and friends. It's a corporate success! (1 John 5:14-15, Malachi 3:6-12)
