Let The Past Pass!
Philippians 3:13 NASB “Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.”
When we think of our future, it seems like it’s so far away, but the future is tomorrow. As a matter of fact, it’s the next hour. The future is the next five minutes. Most people don’t know how to live the future because the greatest threat to their future is their past. Most (90%) are perishing or in destruction right now. Why? The problem is most are living in revision instead of living in their vision. Revision is they go back and look at something that they have already done. When we revise a revision, we are, basically, living what we already lived. It’s like, when we prepare to take a test, we study about what we have already learned. We go back and look at our notes, so we go over the information we’ve written down in class. So, revisions are really living out the past again.
Most human entities living on this planet are living in the past and this hinder’s their success because they are so occupied with revision that they don’t live out their vision. They are so busy, remembering that they cannot forget. I know everyone has big dreams in their hearts, bigger than the nightmares we are experiencing. Most people are so trapped by what they used to do that they have no energy to do what they should do. Most are so afraid that they don’t attempt the future possibilities. People are so busy keeping in touch with their past, they have never visited their future.
Memory immobilizes man and woman. You may be trapped by what you have done and it makes you question, what you could do? That’s why most of the people in this planet, never live out their future because of them, their past is more important than their future. They are so occupied by what they’ve done, they never plan, what they could? The greatest enemy of our progress is our last success. (Dr. Myles Munroe) Some people park there or build a hotel from their last success, it immobilizes them. They are trapped in their success. They refuse or reject to do what they could do, or what they haven’t done yet? The past is dangerous.
One of the greatest gifts, our decisions as humans, we can make is to actually forget the past. God gave us the capacity or ability to forget or literally, turn things off. I know it’s impossible to not have a memory, but it is possible to not allow your memory to influence you. It’s possible to not allow, what you did to interfere with what you could do? Don’t allow our memory to immobilize our life. We can leave or cancel the emotional death or the psychological ties that we have with our past and we can advance into the future. If we are willing to make that decision to forget, then to live effectively, it’s impossible to succeed, until the future becomes more important than our past. We must move pass, our past, to enter our future.
God doesn’t care what you’ve done, if you are willing to do, what God wants you to do? Most of the time, we are more concerned with what we did in the past than God. Like a divorce or an abortion, which is an event. So, what is the key to living our future? How do we let our past go forever? The key to living our future is letting go our past. In Isaiah 54:4, says, “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace (cursed); you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.” Also, Solomon said, “People perish without a vision.” Vision will save, keep us alive, and encourage us. Now, go on and live! Give God the Glory!
