A little bit of luck, a whole lot of talent and unfaltering passion make a good recipe for success. And success is what writes history. A teenager from the rural hills of Syangja, Nepal has managed to make his fellow countrymen proud today. At a time when the country's economy and politics are at status quo, this achievement by a Nepali sportsman is more than a big reason to celebrate.
The 17 year old Sandeep Lamichhane became the first Nepali to be selected in the Indian Premier League franchise today. He was bought by Delhi Daredevils, a team having the quite a few big names to boast of in the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Trent Boult and Glen Maxwell to a name a few. The young leg spinner was bought for around $31000 for the 2 month long season.
As a non test playing nation which does not even have ODI and T20 status, Nepal has been struggling in the Division 2 of the World Cricket League. But despite this fact, the selection of a Nepali player in one of the most famous leagues in cricket
gives hope to the hundreds of aspiring players of the country.
The format of the IPL lets only 4 overseas players to be in the playing 11 at a time and with so many big names in international cricket in the team, the chances for Sandeep to be in any playing 11 look slim but we can really hope he gets a chance to prove his mettle in the month and a half long league.
I think if Delhi Daredevils make Gautam Gambhir captain, then that lad will get chance to play. I know how Gambhir made Kuldeep Yadav so famous when he debut in KKR at the age of 18 yrs🙂. Thats my hope bro.

GG will most probably be named the captain this year so we can really look forward to Sandeep in the playing 11 then.

Yeah GG birth home is Delhi and in Ranji Trophy he is captain of Delhi Team. So probably he is the likely choice. Apart there is no one as experienced as him🙂
