The persona, the mask that defines us in the outside world

In Latin, "persona" meant the masks that players wear on stage. Jung thought of the character as a wall between the person and the rest of society.

Be aware of your social mask
Identities like credentials, social roles, and career honours are important to the conscious Self. Persona is what someone seems to be, like a good girl, a nice boy, well-behaved, smart, married, etc.

We and other people think we're special because of our social mask, but it's also a compromise. When we connect with our persona, it hurts our minds. Putting on this mask outside makes us who we are; ideally, it's a face that helps other people.

All of those who have lost their jobs, gone bankrupt, gotten divorced, etc. They lose their place in life's big theatre, which is an artificial but important outside show. The question of "who am I without this disguise?" is something they have to deal with. While we wear the mask, our ego (Self) needs to remember that it is "a little child who has barely begun to say 'I'" and lives inside each of us.

In our society, wearing a social mask is expected, but you shouldn't identify with it. If you do, you will lose your identity if you lose your job, family, or other standing.

Confusion about social masks
In outside relationships, especially romantic ones, we all put on a mask to attract our partner. But sometimes or often, this mask is so strong that we lose ourselves in the romantic approach and wonder, "Who is the other?" This makes it hard to be truly in love with someone.

This social mask makes us think we're what other people see, kind of like when we're looking for a job.

This is a social mask that artists often have to wear. Under this social mask, some people drink, use drugs, or kill themselves because they don't feel like they have anything important or meaningful to say.

You will see that there is a lot of misunderstanding and dissatisfaction.

Masks that are good and bad
The positive mask shows someone who gets the social problem behind the mask without getting caught up in it and knows who he is. This helps him get over the ups and downs of life.

It's the role-player who has lost himself in his games and will be an empty shell if he loses it.

Masks also lock some people up. The person who has always tried to make others happy and never let them down.

People can start to adopt this character on social media. Which often leads to identity crises or even worse...
