When talking about “belief”, I think each country has different belief and it’s very interesting to learn the way they believe. Sometimes, you may not understand about their belief and it seems that there is no reason why they believe like that.
Today, I’ll show you one of the “beliefs” of Southern Thai people for Ai Kai Wat Chedi in Nakorn Si Thamarat province.
Generally, Wat Chedi is not different from other temples in Thailand, but there is one thing that rather stranger than anywhere else. That is the statue of a child who is well-known as “Ai Kai” (Thai name), which is believed to be very sacred. Most people in Nakorn Si Thamarat province and other provinces in the South of Thailand visit Wat Chedi to pay respect to “Ai Kai” and make a wish.
We believe if we have good fortune, we will worship “Ai Kai” with a colorful plaster chicken and firecrackers.
You will see those chickens on both sides along the way to the temple. There are various sizes of the chickens up to our fortunes; i.e. we believe if we get big fortune, we may have to buy the bigger size of the chicken and a lot of firecrackers…
So......There are many chickens in the temple….
The pile of firecrackers can represent the good luck they have.....
They thank to "Ai Kai" by lighting the firecrackers.
The two giant chickens in the temple….. Wonderful! ;D
We also call this temple as “Chicken Temple” due to the variety of these chickens in the temple…..
It’s amazing and incredible, right? :))

Nice story about how important chickens are. When my son was growing up
we got him involved with 4H. 4H is a program to allow city folks to exerience some of the things farmers experience. We raised chickens and found out that they are special in may ways.
