IF YOU ARE A FATHER OR PLANNING TO BE ONE READ THIS

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

I got this from my mentor Mr. Frank M Gashumba. I felt inspired after reading it and found it worth sharing

Last Sunday was Father’s Day and it was the first time I was hearing about this one day dedicated to fathers.

In my opinion, these are bogus, useless days. I believe it’s a man’s duty, and an obligation to look after their children, guide, mentor, protect, and defend them etc.

I don’t think a father should be thanked for paying school fees for his children.

That’s his duty. If you can’t look after your children, why do you bare them? Surprisingly, there are very few certified authentic fathers. Many of these men you see putting on trousers are the opposite of true fathers.

Any man can make a woman pregnant but what makes you a father is the ability to support your wife and your children, even if there are irreconcilable differences between you and your spouse. You have an obligation to look after your children even if they live with your ex.

I am dying silently. Every day, I meet single mothers who do all sorts of casual jobs to support their children.

I see single mothers working on construction sites from morning to sunset doing all sorts of jobs that are meant to be done by men. And when you interact with them privately, they say they have to look for school fees & food for their children. And you know why?

Because some poor excuse of a man wasn’t man enough to take up his responsibilities. What in the world is wrong with the men of toay?

I don’t remember my father ever delegating his role to my mother. When young boys grow up seeing their mothers being the men in a home, these boys will grow up thinking that is the proper order of how things are done.

Children will continuously do what they see us doing; not what we tell them to do!
In the process, we are preparing a generation of useless young boys who think it should be women to look after them and these hopeless men want to sit on a high table at the graduation when the mother paid the school fees.

They will even have the guts to tell friends that his son or daughter will be graduating from university, as if they made any contribution to this success!

If you want to know what I am talking about, visit schools on visitation days and you will realize 90% of the parents at the visitation days are ladies and these hopeless men are at Pork joints eating Kabushenga!
What can we do to compel these useless fathers to look after their children?

Don’t argue and say they don’t have money. They have money to be in bars from Monday to Friday sleeping with different women, transiting STDs, STIs and HIV. If you are part of them, you are just a sperm donor; you are not a man!

If fathers just did what they're supposed to do, half of the junk that we see in Kifesi gang's wouldn't exist.
