Facing the Frenemy on Facebook

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

You know that feeling? The feeling you get when seeing a friend you haven’t seen in years. What about the sense of witnessing a frenemy you haven’t seen in five years? You’re fine throughout the day. Then one night your mom spots a picture on Facebook. The mom gets excited to see the picture. She hasn’t seen these people in five years. For some reason, Facebook wants your mom to friend a familiar face. Friends affiliated with the friends she already has. Because she’s excited about seeing these people, she has to get your attention. You come over to the couch. Mom turns her Kindle already on Facebook in your general direction. There, you are faced with your frenemies. The frenemies you haven’t since in five years all grown up.

You're surprised to see them on Facebook. For five years you didn’t think they’d have a Facebook page. They’re a group of low key folks. They also look like the picture of a great American family. It's a weird concept for one person frenemies. The facts are simple to comprehend for some of the Christian faith. We’re friends because of Christ. The enemy part is simple too; we’re awkward together. They rarely talk to you, while they talk to anybody who's anybody. Sometimes, groups of people at the church gather to speak to your frenemies. Sadly, the frenemies never gather as a group to talk to you. This will make people outside the church wonder why the frenemies don’t speak to you. You start to create conspiracy theories surrounding the reason.

The frenemies are educated in the Christian schools. You go to public school, stuck in the Special Education department. Because you’re stuck in Special Ed people, judge you for the rest of your life. Christian schools don’t have Special Ed. The frenemies are not used to being around Special Ed outside the Christian school. It’s the one and only theory as to why you’re frenemies. The crazy thing; you still have friendly feelings for the frenemies. Your mom side of the family has a quality similar to your frenemies. They remind you of Uncle Ted. Both Uncle Ted and the frenemies are favorite people. You wish for a piece of Uncle Ted. Since you and frenemies don’t talk, you never tell about the cousin death, a death that occurred during the advent of the opioid crisis.

Because of those friendly feelings towards the frenemies, they miss the dark demons you hid. They slightly know about your dad social problems. People ignore this issue with dad. They lose the opportunity if a person like dad carries around a gun. Even though dad does not own a firearm. The frenemies think mom is a kind caring, person. Mom is friendly to any people she meets. Outside of the general public mom is a bully to her family. She verbally pushes a mild mentally unstable man and child. Mom has a beautiful habit of making fun of you. Dad joins in the mix of laughing at you. You try to prove them wrong. In the end, they still make fun of you. You get depressed but have a fear of death. You make slashes to your arm using the pocket hunting knife from Amazon. You wish the frenemies and Uncle Ted would have cared a little bit more

Till that night when your mom showed you the picture. Knowing damn well the history of stomach woes. After seeing the picture, your stomach is in knots. It’s hard for you to sleep because your belly is hurting really bad. Yet, you wonder if your mom is going to “friend” them. She’ll get more pictures if she makes a “friend” request. You’ll wonder if those pictures will lead you to a hernia. In the end, there’s still a love/hate relationship with your frenemies.

The love/hate relationship that inspirited this author to write his first published book See Ye First. About ten years ago I saw their frenemy relation. I observe the lack of communication between the real Carrie Ann and Bucks. One day I wanted to fulfill a New Year resolution of publishing a book. I wanted to start small by writing a children book. I’d figured, the best story to tell is the frenemy relationship of Carrie Ann and the Bucks. In hopes, a child attending a Christian school or homeschool would be exposed to children in special Ed. In the future, an odd child like Carrie Ann won’t have stomach problems seeing their frenemies.
