I know it’s been a while since I have posted, but I’m gonna try to get back into the rhythm of it again. Life got busy and I put technology on the back burner.
Anyways, I thought since it’s a new month, it would be a good opportunity to get something written.
Yesterday was a bit of an exciting time though! Actually it was kind of distressing since I’ve never drilled into a water line before... 😒
As part of my job, from time to time I have to drill through concrete, I’ve talked about this before a couple months ago when my coworker abandoned me on the job, lol. Since then he’s been a lot better at being a “team player”, I guess he got a good talking to.
Anyways, I was going along thinking that this would be an easy straightforward task, but of course not. As soon as I hit it, I pulled the drill up a bit thinking I had made it through the concrete, and then a geyser of water shot up out of the hole!
It was so strong it was soaking the rafters up above. I dropped the drill and ran around the corner to get my coworker. He came back with me to help find and shut off the water. We tried the valve at the house, but that didn’t do anything.
I ran down to the end of the driveway and pried open the main water valve. With a large wrench, I managed to get it shut off before too much water had gotten everywhere!
After we got it under control, with the homeowner we figured out that it wasn’t the main line, but an irrigation line that was running shallowly under the driveway.
So today a plumber was sent out to cut a square out of the driveway and repair the line.
I was so mortified and embarrassed that it had happened, but I was glad the houses gas line wasn’t near any concrete that needed drilling! With the way all the piping was at the house, it wouldn’t have been good, the homeowner told of how he had hit the water main and several water lines crisscrossed around the property. It’s on a slope too so it’s difficult to determine where things could be.
Oh well, live and learn!
Construction and repairs is a tough job. Hopefully that'll be fixed soon.
At least the wifi's working right? That's the most important thing in the 21st century.

Haha, yeah no internet is unacceptable! Even though it’s a series of tubes, it’s a good thing they don’t run under where I need to drill, lol
