Water Pollution : is the injection of hazardous waste both solid and liquid into our river
sea and ocean. Most rivers are polluted in that the sea animals die off, this pollution is very challenging for aquatic life and also to humans. If aquatic animal are infected by this pollution, humans will be affected too.
The source of this hazardous pollutants is from domestic, commercial and industrial sources.
Such pollutants includes oil spillage, waste and liquid discharges from industrial plants, sewage and discharges from sewage treatment works, and acid rain. They contaminate surface and groundwater often used for drinking and for aquatic life support.
EFFECT OF WATER POLLUTION
Both the surface and underground water will be contaminated, aquatic life will be destroyed, and our water bodies will be silted that is to say that sun rays will not penetrate into our water bodies and life of aquatic animals will be in danger.
LAND POLLUTION
Land is contaminated when harmful chemicals are allowed to drain into the ground, or by dumping of harmful non biodegradable material indiscriminately. Other sources of contamination are acid rain, agrochemicals, refuse, dung, and oil spillage.
EFFECTS OF LAND POLLUTION
It introduces health hazards, stunted growth in plants (reduced soil fertility) reduce land use, public nuisance.
One thing is that if we dump our waste indiscriminately, one day they will fight us back, nature has its own way of reprisal.
