Pink Travels #4: Meet the glamorous brother of Game of Thrones, Gordes of south France

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Imagine Game Of Thrones. Add it to a glamorous place where Winter is never coming. I present to you, my dear friends: Gordes. I went there last year with my friend, but if you are searching for a romantic trip with your beloved, this is certainly the place to be!

Gordes is part of the Luberon mountains and region and is known as one of the most beautiful villages of France. No wonder celebrities have found their home in this small city where peace and quiet is a standard. The village is a lovely traditional Provencal village with narrow cobbled streets that rise higher and higher through the centre of the village. Full of ancient houses, with in its center the church and a 16th-century castle that rise above the village. Here you have one of those stunning and peaceful views, characteristic for La Provence.

The village is quite small, so the best way to discover it is by foot. Armed with a baguette under my arm we walked for hours, afraid we would miss a cute corner. Every corner is so cute and the historical buildings speak for themselves. If you really want a romantic getaway, this is the place to be.

And the people are so super friendly. We had some small talk with a grandpa who insisted to take pictures of us so we could keep the memories of this beautiful town.

A hidden gem is La Bastide de Gordes. This luxury hotel has beautiful suites (also honeymoon packages) and a beautiful view for a morning coffee or a romantic dinner to close the day while you overlook the whole valley. Simply stunning and I loved everything about it!
