Scientists dared to reach out, with sophisticated instrumentation, to explore the planets in our solar system.

What they saw was (way) beyond their wildest imagination - and they often had to rewrite their assumptions with every discovery that came along.

This forced science to adopt a cautious approach to defining reality - and, as such, science now assumes theory is correct until proven otherwise.

This means science can maintain an open mind as it continues to investigate and explore the reality we live in.
