Christmas and Fuel ⛽ Scarcity

in life •  7 years ago

It's that time of the year when everyone around Nigeria a d the world at large desire to travel to see and spend time with family members.
Not minding the choice of transportation one chooses to use here in Nigeria, and which the predominant means of transportation here is land (road) and air (for those who can afford it)
However, one crazy unpleasant event does happen at this period. This is outside the issue of congested roads, which sometimes leads to accidents on the roads and streets that could have been easily avoided. This ugly event of which is the bone of contention in this post is that of FUEL SCARCITY IN NIGERIA (a country that happens to be an oil producer, exports crude oil to parts of the world but yet she (Nigeria) lacks adequate efficient functioning refineries. This issue of fuel scarcity even though it occurs at some other time within the year, its occurrence during the festive December/Christmas period is one that has become a habitual phenomenon.
I'm poised to ask the question WHY? Why do petroleum marketers across the nation choose to always come up with some crazy reasons as to why they horde petrol which eventually leads to higher price tag on the product, thus making it more difficult to get petroleum products and when you do, you have to pay through your nose to get the quantity you want.
This ugly incident have indeed paralysed people's desire to meet with family and also go on vacation trips across the country..

This fuel crisis is the worst seen in many years. Petrol stations gallantly selling fuel at N300.

Transportation cost from Lagos and Abuja to East rose to 15,000 and N18,000 respectively.

May God save us
