THE ESTEEM VALUE OF WISDOM

Sometimes you wonder how benefitting wisdom could be in the life of human.

I am not a pastor nor a bonaffide man of God but allow me to make a biblical reference here.

1. My son, if you receive my words,
   And treasure my commands within you,

1. So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
   And apply your heart to understanding; Proverbs 5:1-2 (NKJV)

This scripture explained to us another twin benefit of wisdom: it avails someone who possesses it perceptiveness and informed lips. Now perceptiveness as a human quality got its own values as it is the tools needed to be able to see beyond the surface or sort through several layers of options to pinpoint at the real thing, whatever that may be in actual context.

Perceptiveness is what you need to have a realistic, if not accurate, appraisal of the real issue in a situation, or the real person behind a personal appraisal.

The Encarta Dictionary describes it
as the ability ‘to see or notice something that is not very clear or obvious; to understand that is not immediately obvious, and be able to tell the difference between two or more things.’

Perceptiveness is the guard you need to avoid living in errors, with a trail of blunders in your tail. And the perceptiveness is only available to one who has wisdom.

In addition, wisdom gives you an informed mouth.
The passage above says that it helps your lips to express what you have learned. In other way round, it gives you the opportunity for an expression.

Have a clear understanding that its not everyone who can boast of that, and not everyone who expresses him/herself does so in a wise manner.

Therefore, wisdom is the distinguishing factor between someone who has something to say and whose expression is cherished by others, as against those who just talk because they needed to say something, and whose expression holds no water.*

Wisdom makes the difference.
