Why do we have to perform?

in life •  7 years ago

Sometimes we might feel in a rush. We feel forced to achieve, to accomplish, to perform. More and more, better and better. Day in and day out. Not achieving, not accomplishing and not performing means feeling worthless. But why?

We are disconnected from our inner bliss, our inner strength and truth. We are so far away from being connected to our soul, from feeling our inner wisdom and peace. We seem to be not us. But who are we instead?

It all started in primary school, continued by high school and college. Our work got scored, our words got scored and our whole being got scored. Scored by an authority who had the job to make us better, to let us improve, to let us optimize. We had to achieve and if we did not do so we would get a bad scoring. If we do not achieve we will be worthless.

But what’s they way out of this? Out of this cage which lets us feel having to perform and to achieve?

It might seem to simple but it’s just being aware of this cage. Awareness about being influenced by these beliefs. But how to get aware?

Meditate. Be quiet. Observe your mind. Take a rest.

You are perfect as you are now. You don’t have to accomplish, to achieve and to perform to be worth. Be aware of your completeness and take a rest.

Lots of Love,

Tom

I enjoyed reading your post.
But why am I writing in English?

Wenn man drauf achtet merkt man (genau wie bei meinen Texten) einen etwas „deutschen“ Satzbau.

Hab einen schönen Tag.

Hehe, danke dir :D I keep tryin!

@tomeberts: Great topic, I can totally relate to your thoughts;-) In my opinion the disconnection from our inner truth is the main reason for unhappiness. This is also the reason why so many seek help in self-development-courses and -gurus. And another problem is that most of us are living in information overload. But instead of more information and instead of more self-improvement what we really need is more awareness to connect to our inner wisdom and integrity. And meditation is a great tool to access the inner experience of coming home to yourself, to realize that we are perfect as we are right now ;-)

Totally true! <3
