The premise

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have been comfortable, in my tanuki house. The situation is thus: mother is very emotional. She gets from a killing spree to hugging and kissing in less than a minute. My father is a busy businessman, as I aspire to be myself. We don't talk much.

I have had freedom.

I yearned for it; now I woe it. Beware of freedom. As much pleasant as it sounds, it can be dangerous, for early in age, men do not understand life well enough to roam free through it; they need a guide.
After the image of Father I ran and ran, but at some point I stumbled across art; and so Art School was chosen, and four years spent feasting upon procrastination and lack of conduit. Having lost much of my will, I now seek back the hard sciences, to have a chance of opening my own store, and selling my own product.

Is such a giant leap wise?

Carpe diem, I tell myself, yet sure am not. This uncertainty, I regard, will be the end of me.
So with lucidity and courage, a tanuki must stand proud. I am free now, as I wished so strongly; my duty is to use that freedom to maximize studying.

Dead Poet Society, a great movie I recommend to anyone searching for a pleasant ride.

Conclusion

Let's be serious. How can a tanuki with no experience get to the other animals level in just a few months? One needs to be a genius! But the point is, it doesn't matter. You see, the outcome doesn't matter. What I am, in fact, capable of, doesn't matter. Nothing has real importance, if you try hard enough.

But there are things to live for.

There are better futures we must attempt, and do anything to get there, sacrifice anything, because those are the only things that could, perhaps, have an importance.
You could be as well wasting your time, or you could be Alexander the Great, would it make a real impact, that is somehow, not forgotten at a macroscopic level? No. As you are human, I am tanuki, and we are unable to make something absolutely great. We can only make something relatively great.

Therefore we can see, that relevance is decided by us.

Immediate importance is dictated by three things:

  • Your body for survival and entertainment.
  • The environment you live in, weather, economic situation.
  • The people around you and society.

These are the things you must respect to survive peacefully in our world. But then we have a fourth factor, and it is the one that makes things worthwhile:

  • You.
What is a future that you seek, the one in which you are happy? The problem is, many of us don't know, because earthly beings can't quite imagine things they haven't experienced. We are all closed in our shells as fledglings, and before we close ourselves in tunnel towards a goal, seek guidance, new perspective, always be curious.
After reaching a certain maturity we can tell what makes us happy. Maturity is the synthesis of experiences, and the ability to use the experience for your benefit. Only after reaching that maturity, we can get ideas of what fills our hearts with pleasure: and fight for that things, and dictate ourselves the importance of our activities.o-ROBIN-WILLIAMS-DEAD-POETS-SOCIETY-facebook.jpg

Apologies

This was quite a personal post, yet a tanuki must express his doubts, and solve them.
I dare hope my thoughts helped you as well, figure out a little bit of truth. Thank you for reading, and have the best of dreams, for here it is late, I must go. As a dear friend once said:

"Sleep is for the weak, and therefore I must sleep."
