Persuasion With Confidence

I'm sure with the rise of social media, you have heard the term 'influencer' thrown around a lot.

Nowadays, it's gotten to a point where anyone with a couple of followers are calling themselves an influencer.

But are they really?

Does your follower count dictate your persuasion skills?

NO.

To be honest, you don't even need followers.

You have the ability to persuade solely by yourself in the real world..

In the digital world, follower counts help build social authority, sure.

But it is not mandatory.

'Then what is??'

Hold on there tiger. I will tell you. But first, I need to explain what persuasion is.

My definition of persuasion is altering perceptions to cause a behavior.

Which is why having a big follower count does NOT mean you are an influencer.

There are many accounts who grew large because they solely provide entertainment.

But do they cause their audience to take any form of action?

Not really.

They provide great entertainment, which is admirable.

But ultimately, are you getting a certain behavior out of them?

That's what you need to ask yourself.

Now the key to persuasion & influence is by doing less.

TAMING YOUR EGO IS MANDATORY.

EMPATHY IS MANDATORY.

But that's not how you have been taught persuasion.

You have been taught that the person who is the best with words will cause a behavioral change.

Wrong.

In many cases, that will work, sure.

But it is not the most effective method.

Which is why taming your ego & empathy is mandatory.

It allows you to enter the other person's world.

Every human has a perception map.

A perception map is their reality.

Their reality is made up of their unique life experiences, relationships, friendships & all that.

And the perception map of a human is like a finger print.

No one has the same exact ones.

This is why the number 1 goal of persuasion isentering the person's world..

Find out the language they use, the way they think, their opinions etc.

'Well, what if I don't agree with their viewpoints?"

Don't matter.

Understanding does not equate to agreeing.

Push past your ego & understand away.

Next, you have to be clear about what you want them to do.

What is the action you want them to take?

2 action points.

You have to have a PRECISE intent.

Without it, you will be having an aimless convo about nothing.

Finally, you ask strategic questions to get them to your intent or provide so much value that they make the decision themselves.

Path 1: Strategic questions that direct them to your intent.

These questions will allow them to think they thought of the idea themselves.

No one likes to be sold to but everyone likes to be sold.

Counter intuitive, I know.

But human nature is tricky.

Path 2: Immense Value

You provide so much relevant information that speaks directly to that persons world that they want to know what's next!

In that case, you drop a call to action in the bottom.

And at this point, they will feel silly for not taking action after all the value you gave them.

Both ways work.

But this is the knowledge as to why a person with 1,000 followers can have more influence than a person with 1,000,000 followers.

A 1000 followers guy may know exactly what their market wants, addresses those pain points & helps give an action plan that will take them away from the pain.

While the dude with the 1,000,000 followers is posting cat videos & piling up likes.

Life is a game of influence & persuasion.

Exercise this skill set & watch your power rise.
