Because communication is an art, it must be deliberately, patiently, and carefully learned over time. Effective face-to-face communication is always holistic in nature, involving all the senses and the full engagement of the body, intellect and mental energy.

Communication is an exchange of information (a message) between individuals in such a way as to bring mutual understanding. Every message contains three essential components: content, tone of voice and non verbal signals like gestures, facial expressions and body language. When all three work in harmony, the probability of mutual understanding is very high. If any element is missing or contrary to the others, the likelihood of successful communication diminishes significantly.

In our relationships, human emotions and personalities are involved. The non verbal elements are more significant than verbal. Research has shown that the verbal aspect comprises only 7% of the total message we send or the person receives. Tone of voice accounts for 38% while the remaining 55% is non verbal. In other words, how your spouse or friend perceives and understands you depends only on 7% of what you say, 38% of how you say it and 55% on what we are doing when you say it..

Like I said, you carefully learn it over time. Keep the practice on, not only in your relationship with your spouse but also in your relationship with other people. Love you and keep discovering the beautiful you that I believe in. Gracia's!! 😘😘😍
