Fear as an obstacle.

Fear can derail us from accomplishing our goals. The moment you acknowledge that fear is part of the equation, you can begin to reap the benefits. Not having to fear the moment when you fall behind is one of the many benefits of achieving your goals.

Our anxiety can make us throw up our hands and give up. But by pushing fear aside and embracing the rewards of accomplishment, we feel empowered and energized to keep going forward. Achieving a goal is a process that results from making steady progress over time. It starts with a positive attitude and physical preparation and leads to further progress with a conscious strategy and disciplined discipline.

From the beliefs that distract us, prevent us from getting on with our lives, and simply say no, those same beliefs can become the major obstacles to our goals. Fear and insecurity, or in this case, "worry" are often thought of as "free-floating" anxieties that we are free to eliminate if we are concerned about the possible negative outcomes.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. We can't eliminate these anxieties. Once we get the panic attack in, they persist and grow and there is no escape. Once we become convinced that we are a hopeless case and an obstacle to our desires, we might feel hopelessly paralyzed and lose the motivation to do anything about it.

The basic problem is rooted in the fact that humans don't really trust each other and don't really make sacrifices to be close to others in a positive way. More specifically, we value different sets of information. Our well-being is affected by what we can see, hear, smell, and taste. We tend to believe that positive emotions are good, and negative emotions are bad. While this kind of attachment system is the basis for human morality, social monogamy is incompatible with it. We have a strong fear of commitment that prevents us from being close and trusting with others (in a positive way), and we try to avoid all that signals of weakness.

Men, whether they admit it or not, are encouraged to constantly try to live up to ideals of perfection and superiority. The more that are striving to be "good enough," the more they self-consciously try to improve themselves in order to live up to the expectations set for them. They have internalized the ideology that perfection is worth striving for, and fear of failing places immense pressure on them to strive for excellence.

It can be the new student who has never learned anything, the anxious manager who fears upsetting customers, or the leader who fears getting too fired up at his subordinates or people around him. Fear of failure inhibits all new and creative activity, and consequently inhibits achievement and growth. A person who is unable to meet new challenges and conquer challenges when they present themselves finds that many of their frustrations are directed at themselves, rather than towards the problem. This could be expressed in various ways.

I believe the difference between who goes on to become successful and who doesn't is the belief in oneself. I believe that we have a natural fear of success. This is a fact. I wish I did not feel this way. I wish I could simply "be." I want others to view me the way they see me: as well-rounded. I want others to perceive me in the light of perfection. I want people to imagine me as a sitting duck. Not only should people who go out and achieve success believe that they are "special," they should feel extremely proud of themselves.
