To properly interpret body language, one must first learn to recognize its various components. All the facial and lip movements reveal information about one's emotional state. Face downward, one displays sadness and discomfort. Upward, one expresses contentment and cooperation.. Many other non verbal cues which indicate different actions or emotions. Each and every one of us has our own unique idiosyncrasies. This is what makes each of us a unique individual and not only a part of the human species.
I have found that body language is one of the most subtle and powerful ways to communicate. The quality of what someone says in their voice, and the body language they use to express themselves, communicates a lot of what a person thinks, feels, and is.
I'm also drawn to hearing the softness in a person's voice when they're afraid, scared, sad, or vulnerable. We can sense our current partner's warmth and comfort with us. We can also sense a "friendly vibe," meaning the presence of an individual who shares our values, desires, and vision for the future. I like to think of "warmth" as that guy who tells me to my face he hates my voice and would prefer to hear me laugh. The same goes for honesty. Even in well-intentioned, aggressive or degrading comments, we can be able to hear this authentic voice.
"Research shows that when people are about to have a fight or deal with a challenge, they often unconsciously slow their speed of thinking to pre-perceived minimum, so their response to the challenge will be more of a body posture than an vocal message".
Because if we don't know what someone is trying to say, we may not be able to get through to them or to understand what they are trying to say. In this way, body language can be considered an "eye in the sky." See, people try to do many things with their bodies. Maybe they're intentionally trying to be too sensitive or aggressive or passive. Or maybe they're actually in a bad mood or at the top of their game.
By listening to your body language and responding accordingly, you can present yourself as a person interested in knowing more about what they are asking. There are many times in the course of any conversation that you can be as clear and open as possible by not just talking about a subject, but by seeing how your body language lets the recipient know that you are interested in hearing more. In fact, body language communicates far more than just superficial information about what is going on. Understanding how your body language can convey information about a person is an important part of learning how to communicate effectively with anyone
Body language, however, doesn't directly reveal how the person feels. It also doesn't necessarily lead us to make the right assumptions about the personality of a person based on how they present their body language. That said, for better or for worse, body language reveals some clues about one's character, and helps to make us feel closer to the person in question.
