Anybody Can Do It
There's a huge misconception that rapping is hard. This belief isn't just associated with rap, but also with singing, music, mathematics, sciences, but I'm here to state my beliefs. I have hope and believe in people, and I see that if you build a pyramid sequentially, one brick at a time, how could you mess up?
Rapping. Start small. I started by throwing down a beat, trying to just say yo, or hey in sync with the beat, find that flow. Flow is the way your voice interacts with the melody and beat of the song. Your flow can change in timing and pace, but the main key is to make it sound suave.
Here's an obvious thing
You will suck.
Every plant starts with a seed. That plant must focus on every moment to grow, it can only worry about that moment thought simply because there is nothing else to worry about at that time. People start rapping thinking that they need to sound like these idolized musicians, but the truth is that there are plenty of smaller known artists that make livings on their music without being in the main spotlight.
Practice your rap. Start, and suck. I started by first spitting as many rhymes as I could. By rapping, you start to see your vocabulary limitations along with repetitions. Through this analysis, this makes you capable of adjusting in order to refine your bars. Simple music theory is good to study, but it is not needed. We have an internal tuner in our body that many have lost track to their connection with their body.
I throw down these posts specifically because it is what is going on in my life at the moment, but I want to motivate some viewers to reach into fields they know nothing about. Find that it isn't what you thought it was, because then you will start to realize a lot of things are not what you thought it was. Break this systematic procedure down to its components in order to simplify what needs to be focused on in the moment.
If you're attempting an extremely complex mathematics problem, you CANNOT find the answer by looking at the entire problem. You have to start with smaller components and work your way to solving the problem by checking off the systems' sub-layers.
I am not saying how to rap. There is no correct way to rap. There is cultural influence in today's rap, but everyone is different, so I believe everybody has their signature style. These individuals need to search for their own style, stop listening to others and trying to imitate them. Michael Phelps never wanted to be Mark Spitz. He admired his role model, he didn't want to be him. He needed to be himself. Be yourself.
Drop a beat today and sound stupid, so one day your ignorance can possibly cause genius.
