House for sale

This weekend was all about our house going for sale and searching for a new house ourselves....

Our estate agent posted our house on social media last saturday, on Facebook. As soon he did that I got several messages from people I know who saw the house and asked if it was ours. Funny to see the speed of social media. The housemarket at this moment is booming in the Netherlands so we've noticed our selves. Houses we were interested in were already sold so quickly that we had to figure out another plan to be able to be one of the first when a house is going into sellling.

There is this site in Holland (and I am sure other countries have similar sites) called Funda. The deal with the estate agent was that first he would post is on his own site and Facebook, and sunday he would post it on Funda. On Funda almost every house you can buy in Holland is presented. At one point great, at the other (as we have experienced) often houses are already sold or in negotiation before going on funda. I think that is really anoying ;)..

My wife is a bit nervous about the whole thing because this is the first time (for us) to sell our house in the way we do now. In a crazy market, with not a lot other houses to choose from so exciting times.

Last friday we went to a house in Vorden (just outside Zutphen) to have a look if it could be something for us. We are looking for some more space on the ground floor and in the garden. This house was a older house next to a road just outside the center of Vorden.

When we entered the house we saw a leakage in the ceiling, the estate agent of the seller told us that the bathroom had leaked but was fixed. My first question was "Why didn't they painted the ceiling then?"... I think that the first impression of the house (but also the people who live in it) can tell a lot on how the treat their belongings...

Overall the house was to dark to our preference and there was to much to reconstruct in it. If they based the price on that, it is ok of course. Then you can invest into it, but the price was firmly high, so with the extra work it was just to expensive. So we still searching for our new palace :)

Very Applicable this song of Magriet Eshuijs, "House for Sale" :)

Have a great day,

Peter

Good luck on finding a new house! Very brave of you with the market being the way it is to have yours on the market before you find something new. You could end up out on the street! Like I mentioned before, my wife and I looked for a year before we found the house that was the right fit for us. We found one early on and put a bid in on it, someone else put in a bid that was a little less than ours. Even though our financing was more secure than the other bid, the owner declined our offer. It was heartbreaking. We ended up where we belong though.

Thank you :) if things get really bad we have to rent a house for some time,so for that I have no big worries... what does worry me is perhaps indeed the time it will take, cause there are not a lot of houses available and we are hoping some do come 😁😁

Good luck on your quest for a new House. I've got one going up for sale in Posterenk. It's best features are it's location with very easy access to the A1, a huge barn big enough for several Tractors, and a front yard view of a windmill. Since the house is half a farmhouse, it burned down at some point and was rebuilt as 2 separate dwellings, it is not what I would consider large, but adequate. It needs work as the last rebuild was in the 70's. I think it will sell reasonably quickly as independent contractors will find the Barn and freeway access interesting enough to overlook the property's flaws.

Vorden is a nice place and if you work in Zutphen you want to stay on that side of the river as that old bridge is not reliable in hot weather. It does produce a reliable traffic jam 2x day in all weather conditions though :)

Thanks for the Eshuis, another great thing from the 70's. Greetings!

Thanks for the comment, and good luck with selling your propperty, But I think it will go well. Sounds like a nice place. Yes, I don't want to go 'over de ijssel' :) the two bridges are way to small for the traffic in busy days... Vorden is indeed a nice place with some great houses, so we hope to find something overthere. But we don't mind staying in Zutphen either if the house is right :)

goodluck with the househunt!

Goodmorning Peter I understand your wife ! Selling your house is one but not knowing Where your New house is and if you can find one without having to camp in a rental house in between moving and setteling.... I would lay awake ! The house looks great hope you sell it, and find a New palace really soon , and I love Margriet, My father was her biggest fan.

Thanks :) And of course I do understand my wife , I'm sure we will find a house that fits our whishes. And if we have to rent for some time, so be it... But better if not ;)

Good luck with the house hunting

Dank je wel :) We hebben het nodig vrees ik hahaha
