Well, despite my run in with the call centre this evening. I've got some great news!
Anyone who has been following my blog will know that I was previously employed as a charity call centre worker. Also, you may have noted that I got a new job after searching for nearly three months.
On top of the already challenging position of calling people for charities, it came down to the last straw one day. My boss threatened to fire me if I didn't make more donations. While at the same time he'd also asked me to help the new employee's feel more welcome at the office. Which seemed like such an oxymoron on its own. So, I'd been looking for a healthy replacement for some time while interest continues to grow in my blog. Aka story of my life, and other things I find of interest.
I am officially a service worker in a locally owned and highly successful office supply store in town. They've been doing good quality business for decades, with many more to come. And now I'm glad to be able to say that I am a part of that process. Working in a shipping department has its perks. And just like learning to watch the crypto markets, it's got a steep learning curve. After one day, I've got the feeling that this will be a shoe in for me.
Secretly, I've been hired on at a higher rate than a majority of the other employee's at the store. Which may or may not be in fact true. But I've also got a few in's in the office, with a very good friend of mine's parents. They've been working there for years. And anyone that knows anything about the city that I live in, knows that we are living in a small city, that acts like a village. We seem to keep things internal, only hiring out to people who we know. So, I feel very grateful for the opportunity to be where I am. In spite of the whole nepotism scenario that is taking place.
I'm just really very grateful to not have to call anyone to ask them to donate to a charity that I myself do not believe in.
