As I watched trainspotting last night I entered an alternate world.
When it comes to personal reality what is it that everyone is looking for?
To be happy? To be healthy?
To be famous? To be wealthy?
Life is about taking chances and playing your cards right,
And if you do that then you might just win the fight.
The struggles in your way build you up to be a person of value
In the same way a sculptor must break the marble to carve a statue.
And what gives the perceived value you're looking for?
It might be recognition from someone,
but instead there will come a time
When you realize and tell yourself "the only opinion that matters is mine"
For if you don't believe I the person you've become,
Others might
But to you
It will be the same as if there were none.
You must choose to do what makes YOU happy
Not what others have in store
You may even go against your family
But inside you'll begin to restore.
Restore all that might be broken
And pull the pieces together
In some new way you never knew you could have
And it will feel a whole lot fucking better.
As a new chapter in your life begins
There will always be stranger things
That may seem hard to accept
But the One upstairs doesn't give a stitch without a thread.
And one day you'll look back and think:
"Thank God I never lowered my head."
