Ask the Car Guy @socky Aug 2

You will be pleased to know I got my Ford Taurus running. It was a vacuum system leak. A hose between the engine and a little canister in the back. But they don't make or sell the little clip to connect the hose anymore, obselete part.

So I got that part and and alternator for my Kia Rio in my first ever junkyard experience. It went well however I learned some junk yards are way cleaner and more organized than others.

Getting the alternator involved a loader/forklift driver and old tires and rims to serve as jackstands.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of after he lifted it.

I'm glad you were able to fix your car. It is very rewarding to do the work yourself and to do it successfully.

Gas mileage is noticably improved on the Taurus as well. It's amazing with all the Tauruses still on the road that the dealer wouldn't have that part.
