A family of Zimbabwe has been able to leave the airport after spending three months at the Bangkok airport in Bangkok. The family left the airport on Monday in the intervention of the United Nations.

The family prayed for help from the United Nations, saying they were afraid of facing repression when they returned to the country in the wake of protests in Zimbabwe last November. Zimbabwe's longtime leader Robert Mugabe was ousted in the protest.

In view of the family's request, the UN said, they are considering the matter. During this time the family was living at the airport. The airport staffers looked after them.

The Thai Immigration Bureau's spokesman said the family had to leave the airport last Monday. The family leaves the airport to the Philippines. There are refugees from the United Nations refugee agency. However, it is not clear whether the refugee family is the final destination of the family.
