What are you looking forward to in 2020?

in life •  5 years ago

Am I the only one who is really excited? I don’t usually put much thought int even numbers or repeating numbers or Mayan prophecy, but this just feels like a big year, for me and for the world.

Here are some things I’m looking forward to

Living in my favorite neighborhood in the city.

I spent a year in a place totally isolated from any kind of culture I could relate to, an area full of worker bees, and not even the bubble of the suburbs, now I’m moving to a town full of punks, hippies, alcoholics, artists and random fun people on the other side of the city.

Balancing work and play and here and there

Moving means having a lot more friends around and a lot more distractions, lots more energy but lots more that demands attention. I’ll have to work harder but I can play harder if I want. At the very least I won’t fee the same kind of vast desert of nothingness on my days off when I don’t feel like taking the train. There are surprises around every corner

Owning my own business

This is not something I really thought about doing any time soon but it seems like it wants to happen. All the pieces are falling into place perfectly and I’m thinking of making an offer to take over the place I work before spring starts. If it doesn’t work or even if it does I will plan to start something near where I live at the end of the year. Yayyyy for financial freedom!

Finishing my first novel

I had put this on the back burner for almost a year when I realized that just a month or two of concentration would be enough to finish this and it’s really really good so I’d love to get it out as soon as possible. I post some excerpts here. I have another 3 novels in the beginning stages too.

Finishing my first album

In 2019 I learned how to record and developed all my songs into rough demos where I have a basic idea of what I want to do with them. All I need now is a clear schedule and a healthy body to re-record something awesome.

Becoming rather intermediate in my knowledge of TCM and self-healing

I learned a lot this year, mostly through listening to my body but recently I’ve been inspired to learn the 12 major meridians and how they interact with each other. I’ve got a rough understanding of 6/12 but I want to learn each point and become familiar with each of their functions and there are so many! It is so amazing to watch my body improve as I learn these things.

Becoming famous

This one is kind of tongue in cheek. I’ve written before about how I don’t want to be famous famous and to some extent that’s true to a degree, but I no longer feel such aversion to being well known, I realize that I’m the age of social media, and especially where I live, you have to be massively famous and very commercial oriented to run into bullshit on a constant level and unless you are a household name, people don’t get stupid when they meet you. So I want to promote my work a little harder, specifically by not resisting the spotlight like I have. Maybe I’ll make more videos and do some podcasts like I’ve been talking about. At the very least I will keep sharing stuff and connecting so that I return to my former glory at steemit :-)

Becoming crypto rich

I still don’t think we will explode in 2020, but I do think it’s likely we will approach or even cross all time highs. If that happens, it will be as if I had been working the whole year I did nothing but meditate, play music and connect on steemit. I still don’t know how I’m going to earn a whole bitcoin by then since I have so many things I need to pay for right now but I think I’ll figure something out :-)

Living with my partner again

We spent a year apart because we needed to change our lives by moving and she wasn’t ready and had a harder time so I went before her to kind of pace the way. It was a hard year. It’ll be good to have a team again.

Finding more tribes to connect with

Since I’m in a much more fun and connected part of the city now, I’ll be able to collaborate more if I choose to. Unlike before I don’t feel desperate to do so but I’m open so long as it feels right.

Dabbling in new arts and skills

I haven’t given up on learning a few more language although first I want to brush up on my Japanese so I can get around easier in the art and activist world and perhaps do some more “business” with locals. I want to rap, I want to dj, I want to learn Spanish or German or French. The possibilities are endless!

Two years ago I had this idea for Monthly Resolutions. They didn’t go far, probably cause each month I had a few things I was trying to do and there was no concrete end point to each of the goals. This year I wanna try making a monthly focus with a concrete goal at the end of the month. A task. Or 2. I’ve already started. In January I plan to finish with the novel so I am starting early since I also have to worry about visas and moving and the like and I want to make sure I get it done.

Let me know what you are excited for in 2020 ;-)

Love TCM.. a really fascinatjng way of seeing the body, rather than from an ignorant skin deep viewpoint where everything inside us is a mystery only for western doctors to know!

Looks like a positive, exciting year ahead. Happy for you. Here is to 2020.

Thinking of dropping another chapter...a reaaaaallly good one, once I’ve hit the chapter 15 mark. For now I gotta revive my patreon and put up all my new songs there, reorganize a bit. I will do that before New Years.

I’m thinking I may teach TCM one day....I’d love to take the mystery out of it cause it’s all stuff you can feel! It’s so real!
