Day 54 – The big day (18/10/2018)

Here it is, today is the big day. As I’m writing this my girlfriend is on her last plane to Charleroi Airport Belgium, little does she know this will be the final post I refer to her as my girlfriend, after today she will be my fiancée.
In about an hour I will be getting into my car to go and pick her up, I will not be alone however. With me will be my dad’s best friend who will be recording the entire proposal.

You see the proposal will begin at the place where we first embraced each other, where we shared our first kiss, the airport. I know however that she never was one for public appearances that’s why I designed this.

This is how it will look from the front when she is walking up to me, just like a normal name board.

This is the end result of combining text art, wood and lasers, in essence it is a name plaque as you see every now and then in airports. But when she approaches me after seeing me with the plaque I will open up the plaque and it will reveal my proposal message, I will however not have any rings on me…

Once she is close enough I will open it up and reveal the hidden message.

You see part one is something I like to call a private question in a public place. To keep this privacy I will not take a knee or make a big scene, instead we will go to my car where I will give her part two of the proposal.
Part two is a photo book I have created, it contains the history and evolution of our relationship and the making of the entire proposal, with at the end a scene of me forgetting the rings ;)

The photo book in its box, took weeks to make was delivered in 3 days.

It is quite the ride back and this photo book should keep her entertained as we move towards part 3.
Now part 3 will take place in front of our future house, The final page of the photo book contains a code, which will give her access to the house. When entering the house there will be a banner “Welcome Home” with on the flags of the letters various messages of love in Russian.

The only furniture in our future living room for the moment.

Once inside all that remains is the final part of the proposal, and this is the classic one. I will go on my knee and hopefully will not be too nervous to say something loving and nice before I slide the ring on my girlfriends finger and she becomes my fiancée.

This is where i will put the rings.

After all this I plan on spending the rest of the evening with her in peace and enjoy the warmth of her touch which has been absent for so many days.

54 days have passed since I started this blog, as I head out to what is to be one of the most important days of my life l look back in joy that I was able to share my experience with you all my friends. Tomorrow is never a guarantee, and moving forward from now there are sure to be plenty of challenges. I once heard the saying “you cannot connect the dots looking forward, only looking backwards”. Looking back on my own life I see the challenges I faced and the internal hardships I went through, and I realize they made me the person I am today. Would I do things different if I had to do it all again… No, everything I went through eventually led to meeting the woman of my life, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

And with that thought I now leave to end this chapter of my life with a bang, I want to thank everyone who went with me along this journey, either the entire walk or kept me company for a part of the way. Traveling through life does not always lead you across the well-worn path, and it is the people that travel with you along the way that make even the longest journey seem that much easier to make.

I want to invite you all when we start the next chapter in our lives, our journey to marry and live the rest of our lives together. There are many challenges ahead of us, and it might not always be a pleasant road. But together I am positive we will achieve our goals. And I would be honered my friends, If you would make this journey together with us as well.

But for now I will now enjoy the 25 days I can spend with my girlfr… no my fiancée. Oh one final thing, I don’t know if anyone noticed, my fiancée definitely did not. Try taking the first capital letter of every start of every sentence in the posts “Day 43 – T-minus ten (07/10/2018)” and “Day 50 Excitement (14/10/2018)”. Don’t worry sweetie I have printed them out for you. I always liked a good tease…
