It doesn't surprise me one bit that this idea was thrown across the table, this coming from the same guy who has ICE picking up legal green card holders who've been in this country for 30+ years, they also have been pay taxes. Trying to become a citizen in America isn't easy and it becomes very expensive overtime, some pay upwards to $20-30k. I did some reading and it turns out “America’s Harvest Box” would contain items such as but not limited to:
- shelf-stable milk (decide for yourself if you would give this to your family)
- juice
- grains
- cereals
- pasta
- peanut butter
- beans and canned meat (canned meat? have you ever seen that shit? fucking disgusting)
- fruits and vegetables

“What we do is propose that for folks who are on food stamps, part — not all, part — of their benefits come in the actual sort of, and I don't want to steal somebody's copyright, but a Blue Apron-type program where you actually receive the food instead of receive the cash, It lowers the cost to us because we can buy at wholesale prices whereas they have to buy it at retail. It also makes sure they're getting nutritious food. So we're pretty excited about that.” -Management and budget director Mick Mulvaney

They said it wouldn't be a complete meal package but you would get the box and some of the actual assistance money. These boxes are only roughly $90 worth of food, imagine trying to feed a family of 3-4 on $90 a month, get fucking real. 325 million Americans in America as of 2018 and roughly 43 million on government assistance and you want to send them a box. This isn't even covering the logistical nightmare to deliver these boxes especially to families who live in rural areas.
I just think it's a stupid fucking idea and it would end up costing MORE in the future for producing, packaging and distributing these boxes.
Just my $0.02
