Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and was the capital most of the former Vietnamese feudal dynasties. The history of Hanoi is associated with the ups and downs of Vietnamese history through the ages. Hanoi is the largest city in Vietnam in terms of area, and is also the second largest city in terms of population with 7,242,200 people. The territory of Vietnam is shaped like a flying dragon, and Hanoi is the eyes. What a great coincidence!
When you arrive to Ha Noi, there's a place that you definitely must come: the Sword lake
Stories been told that King Le Loi defeated the Minh invaders thanks in part to the sword of the Dragon King. When the land was peaceful, Dragon King sent a god turtle to retrieve his sword when King Le Loi was visting Ta Vong Lake. Since then, it is also known as Sword lake. To this day, the story is spread throughout the country and people believe that the god turtle is still living in this lake.
In facts, a dead body of turtle was found in Sword lake in 1960s. The turtle weighs 250 kg with a length of 2.1 m and a width of 1.8 m. Its dead body was preserved by the scientists at Ngoc Son Temple next to the Sword lake. At present, there are still many generations of god turtles living in the lake. Turtles just emerged when the country has important events. In 2013, when the most famous general of Vietnam died, people also saw a god turtle emerged coincidenly.
Modern and ancient Hanoi - Mysterious city
Hanoi is always attracted by ancient features and tranquility. A tour around Hanoi will leave visitors unforgettable memories. There are 36 streets of ancient Hanoi, Temple of Literature - first university- a symbol of traditional education; Sword lake and Ngoc Son Temple - the heart of Hanoi; Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - the resting place of president Ho Chi Minh and many other places.
The tourists come to Hanoi are surprised with the ancient beauty of this place with architectural works of both historical and cultural. They like the old corner of Hanoi. There are many small streets, ancient lane, old houses, hidden behind trees. Hanoi also has a French-style building that is luxurious, noble. Hanoi ranked 37th among the cities which had most skyscraper-buildings in the world. This is also the difference of Hanoi with the modern city in the world.
I love the old and new things of Hanoi. I find myself very similar to the Autumn of Hanoi, not hurried, always deep in thought and have a sweet, gentle soul.
No matter what, Hanoi will not stop developing in the future. But surely there's still has the old soul on lakes, shady trees, pagodas, ancient architectures of the city more than 1,000 years old. If you have never been to Vietnam or Hanoi then please visit once.
