Follow your heart, it knows the way

There are three courses of action you can take with your life: the best course of action, the worst course of action, or doing nothing at all. Making the ethical choice is the finest choice that can be made. Not taking any action is the worst possible choice. The first thing you need to do is listen to what your gut instinct is telling you. Once you have the information, it is time to take action!

Choosing the appropriate action is the best decision that can be made. If you pick the wrong option, you will end yourself performing the activity that is the next best option. The worst choice that may be made is to take no action at all. The following are a few examples of exceptional leaders who always followed through with what was right.

Stephen Covey, Benjamin Franklin, and Colin Powell were all able to say the appropriate things at the appropriate times. In a similar vein, both Warren Buffett and Theodore Roosevelt stressed the need of acting morally at all times, despite what the opinions of others may be.

The use of this principle is not restricted to labour carried out for the kingdom. In point of fact, this pertains to every aspect of our work. This encompasses the "deeds" that we perform because of our status as Christians, the labour that we perform for the benefit of the world, as well as the specific ministry work that we accomplish. In its purest form, every act of Christian service is "labour" performed for the Lord.

The concept of approaching one's job "as though it were being done for the master" is so potent that its applicability extends well beyond the field of employment. If you identify as Christian, one of the most important things you can do for yourself is to make sure that the expectations of your job do not shape how you act.

Instead, make it your goal to work "heartily" rather than simply "sacrificially." This guiding philosophy will help you in every facet of your life, from the way you conduct business to the manner in which you interact with other people.
