So this is actually day 3 but I'm keeping to stick to my daily posting so I will be writing one for 'day 2' and another for 'day 3' in the evening.
So I had to go to hospital yesterday and enter the emergency ward of Hosmat Hospital. The young doctor had a check up on me and suggested that I do an MRI which I did. And then I was asked to come the next day to the hospital. And the next day I went to get my leg checked up by Dr. Raghu Nagaraj. He examined the MRIs and my leg and concluded that my acl is torn again along with my meniscus of the left knee. And that a immediate surgery is paramount and is the only solution to the road to recovery. I was devastated. What a gift to get at the start of the new year.
I informed my mum through phone and she suggested that I consult with the doctor who did my first acl surgery 2 years back first. Which I did after I met him in the evening. He was of the suggestion that my acl is intact and that a surgery is not required as of now. But he did say that my meniscus is torn. He said that I could rest for a bit and start physio by next Monday.
I was a tad bit relieved because of the fact that I could go back to work. But that was all my life would be for the next three to four months. Work, Physio, & Home. No social life, no gym, no sports, and no much physical activity. Well, that's not an excuse for me to stay demotivated and not get stuff done. My goals have changed but I'm sure I will get back to a good physical activity soon.
So you can see that Indian doctors are only really behind money. If I had done the surgery, I would've ended up spending Rs.1.90 lakh on the surgery, not to mention the long road back to recovery which cost another Rs.1 lakh. It's sad that doctors here don't see beyond the money part of patients and understand how other solutions could also help patients apart from surgery. Sad. Let's hope this changes.
