They're going to design an autonomous police car to fine offenders

Technology is going to leave the traffic guards out of work.
In the future, traffic tickets probably won't be given to us by any human being. Ford has just filed a patent to design an autonomous police car, whose function will be to identify offending cars, take a photograph of their license plate, and order the vehicle to stop, to notify the driver who has just been fined.

The novelty is that the vehicle will not be manned, and will be controlled by artificial intelligence. The aim is for the computer code that drives the vehicle to be able to learn from experience in order to detect more and more types of infringements.

Of course, the ordinary citizen will not care whether the fine is imposed by a person or by a machine. No one takes away the bad weather anymore. But, with a flesh and blood agent there was always the possibility of giving her some excuse (whether certain or not), and that after hearing her, she would have consideration with us. But we suspect the machines will be more relentless.

Within 10 years most manual labour jobs that people do will be done by robots and most mental labour jobs will be done by software. People really aren't ready for this and our societies will have to drastically rethink the way wealth is distributed. Working for a living will be a thing of the past. If we are to carry on this path that is laid out for us by our current class of supposed leaders then we are heading for great misery IMO. Imagine any nation with 80 or 90% unemployment all competing for a handful of jobs. Not going to work is it. People need to start thinking about this and changing their attitude towards work and leisure.
