What I learned about losing weight - It's about Insulin!

I've been thinking a lot more about the whole food/weight thing and started doing a bit more research - just for my own sake really at this stage as there are quite a number of different 'theories' and diets that purport to be life changing and the font of all knowledge. Here's what I found out.

Losing weight really is a chemical equation - when I say 'equation' I really mean that physiology and food intake are just immutable facts. More energy in than out means that we gain weight, and of course the converse is true. So no big revelation there. Where I've changed things up is in adding Intermittent Fasting to my daily plan. I use the 16:8 rule whereby I eat within an 8 hour window from Noon to 8.00 pm and other than that its just teas. I guess like a lot of people I was totally in doubt that I could not eat between those times...but guess what...no problemo.

My big realisation was that insulin in the bloodstream really is the 'boss'. It's the conductor moving any excess energy either into use, or parking it as lard on your hips (Or where ever else) My other realisation is that you can't lose weight when insulin is in the bloodstream!! So whenever you eat anything there is an insulin response. The snacking in between is the killer in weight loss - because it means insulin comes out of the garage and has to do something. When its on the motorway, there just isn't any reduction going to happen in the weight department. So my suggestion on the weight thing is to try intermittent fasting...it's a few days of discomfort and then watch the results!
