Hello guys, now a lot of persons normally mistake self respect for ego or pride.

The lion depicts pride and is very notable in the animal kingdom for its fierceness but people still argue till date that a lions strength and vigor should not be mistaken for pride.

However in the human kingdom, this is also what we face. People don't really know the difference between self-respect, pride and ego.

So here's a short story to portray what I will be trashing out today.

Janet is a young girl in her mid twenties, she's not so much from a rich home and of course, she has lots of responsibilities being the first child of her parents.

Janet needs money to take care of herself in school, she needs money to even feed three times a day ad she needs money to buy the basic books for her studies.

Now, she meets a girl named Juliet who happens to be her roommate. They become close friends and gradually, Juliet begins to understand that Janet isn't so buoyant when it comes to finance and decides to help out.

Janet on the other side, clearly knows juliet as a talking drum and decides to refrain from accepting any assistance, but Juliet doesn't understand this and perceives Janet to be a poor, proud and egoistic kind of girl.

When it comes to beauty, Janet is way more beautiful than Juliet and gets more attention. This, however, turns out to be the reason Juliet sees Janet annoyingly proud.

End of story

ANALYSIS

So many of us would conclude that Janet had self respect, wasn't being proud at all, but acted based on juliet's talking drum nature and so many others would disagree and say Janet had a lot of EGO and PRIDE in her.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

PRIDE: A feeling of self-respect and personal worth.

EGO: An inflated feeling of pride in your superiority to others.

SELF-RESPECT: A quality of being worthy of esteem or respect.

Amazing definitions! Aren't they? (lol)... I am pretty sure you had little knowledge that they are all connected, almost the same and only shows a unique type of difference in their DEGREE.

Self-respect = pride= ego

You need to have SELF-RESPECT in order to have PRIDE and you definitely need pride at its peak in order to have EGO,without any of them in between, you can't be guilty of having any of them either.

People normally feel that they can be justified to have self-respect and that's why they feel comfortable telling it to people around them that what they exhibit isn't pride or ego but self-respect. So would you be kind enough to enlighten them to the fact that self-respect, pride and ego are all interwoven?

The moment you start to carry yourself as someone that deserves esteem or respect from people, start watching yourself closely.
