Many people prefer to drive at night because there is less traffic, especially after peak hours, but there are many disadvantages of driving at night than driving during the day.

Low visibility:

Even though there are road lights and headlamps of your vehicle showing you the way, it cannot match the sunlight. During the night, you can have a clear view of a few yards of the road, but in a day, you can have a much longer view of the road. You can be aware of the dangers well in advance because of it.

Drunk drivers:

Many drivers drink alcohol at night and drive. By doing so, they are a threat to themselves as well as to others. So, even if you are driving carefully, you cannot guarantee others will do the same.

Fatigue and sleepiness:

Generally, we work during the day. Even if we sleep for a few hours during a day, the quality of sleep is not as good as night's sleep. Therefore, it is possible that you might feel sleepy while driving at night. This is a very serious problem and can put you and others in danger.

Crimes:

Criminals are more active during nights than days. Therefore, driving at night increases your chances of encountering a criminal and get in trouble.

Getting help is difficult:

Many shop owners prefer to close their shops at night. Therefore, if you are in some kind of emergency, like vehicle breakdown, and so forth, it is harder to find help at night.

Animals:

Many animals are more active during the night. Also, because of low visibility at night, it is difficult to see an animal crossing or walking on a road, which can cause accidents.

According to NHTSA, you are three times more like to have an accident driving at night than driving during the day. Therefore, it is always better to drive during the day.
