The Caucasian Ovcharka also known as the Caucasian shepherd is quite an intriguing looking breed, at first glance it looks like a hybrid between a bear and a dog, as you can see from the picture above the average dog's size can be quite colossal with records showing dogs weighing more than 260 pounds.
It is said to be one of the oldest living breed of Molossers from the Caucasus region. It is usually kept as a guard dog that protects livestock from predators such as bears and wolves hence the enormous size. The average male ranges from 120-220 pounds, These dogs are said to possess physical traits such as being strong boned and extremely muscular and are known to be even tempered so handling them is not a major issue for breeders and owners.
Generally they live a decently long life averaging around 10-12 years, they are said to be active dogs so exercise is crucial for the breed to prevent obesity. They are said to not get along with other dogs very well so it is preferred to raise them in seclusion.
